We have several play-out chains which we offer for disaster recovery. With our clients’ agreement we will sell the use of each chain to the contention ratio agreed by our clients. So it will cost you a lot less to be on a chain that has a contention ratio 10:1 than one that is dedicated to your needs.
Cost is also determined by the service level that you require. Although it would be ideal to provide a 100% replication of your current channel this can be expensive, so generally we work with our clients to find a level of viewer experience that is acceptable for the price. We can offer from a mirrored service, this will mean that we would need to keep our servers current with your latest materials and schedules, to a generic library of say 12 hours of programming along with a suitable apology caption appearing as scheduled.
